Diane Von Furstenberg Journey Of A Dress Exhibition

There are items that, through the time, not only become iconic but make fashion history.
Diane Von Furstenberg signature wrap-dress is one of these. A dress which is suitable for every kind of body type, that immediately makes us feel classy and ready for every occasion. A dress which has been worn by thousands of women, hundreds of celebrities, that was painted in every kind of colour and experimented all types of patterns.
A dress which turned forty this year.
And It was a huge celebration: in Los Angeles, at LACMA Museum, with an exhibition that, before open to the public from January 11th, was celebrated with a beautiful event. An army of mannequins, all wearing the wrap-dress.
Hundreds of photos and art pieces of these epic forty years. And her, Diane Von Furstenberg in person, to make us all feel at home. Ready to celebrate the dress that changed the rules of fashion.

Smock Dress style

Check Smock Dress • Styling Saturday

1. Topshop: Enzyme Check Smock Dress, £36 (buy here) 2. iclothing: Elsie Cross Body Satchel, €45 (buy here)3. Ciate: Nail Polish in Mango Martini at ASOS, £9 (buy here) 4. New Look: Jelly Sandals at ASOS, £9.99 (buy here)
I recently purchased this check dress from Topshop and have been playing around with ways to wear it, so I thought I'd feature it in this weeks Styling Saturday. I could have gone for my usual ankle boots and socks combo with a red nail and bowler hat (which would still look great with this dress) but I wanted to do something a little different this week - minus the smock dress as I'm always buying those.. what's a girl to do, ay?!
Jelly shoes aren't just for young children running around on the beach anymore, oh no, they've hit the highstreet big time. I've teamed this dress with a pair of black jelly shoes from New Look for a youthful summery vibe; the best thing about these shoes is that they're only £9.99, so if you decide you aren't a fan of the jelly shoe trend after all, you won't feel too disheartened having parted with money for them (let's face it, we've all done it, but it cuts a little deeper when it's a £70 pair of shoes)
To tie the look together I have added a classic black satchel as I wanted to keep the accessories to a minimum as the dress already has a bold pattern; then to add a touch of colour to this look and make it feel more summery, I chose a bright orange nail polish from Ciate which may seem a little too much on top of the blue, checked dress but I think it just works - orange is on the opposite side to blue on the colour wheel after all, meaning they're complimentary colours, therefore by the science of art, they should work *wink wink*.
How would you style this checked dress?
