Estée Lauder Has the Best-Dressed Retail Staff

FYI another big collaboration!

With their latest collaboration, Opening Ceremony follows in the footsteps of designers like Prabal Garung (who designed uniformsfor Nippon Airways ) and Vivienne Westwood (who made onesfor  Virgin Atlantic): Downtown hip kids Carol Lim and Humberto Leon teamed up with Estée Lauder to create a custom uniform for the brand's team of beauty advisors. The Opening Ceremony designers used a jacquard-print fabric inspired by vintage Estée Lauder packaging to tie the collection to the brand's heritage. The pieces — including a peplum blouse, pleated skirt, slim pant, and blazer — capture a modern take on retro uniforms (similar to these amazing retro airline uniforms). We'd gladly incorporate any of these pieces into our wardrobe. But honestly, with all the designer remakes of classic uniforms, doesn't it kind of feel like the whole world will resemble the final runway scene in Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead?

Maison Martin Margiela Is Collaborating With Converse!

It's official: Maison Martin Margiela has linked up for another collaboration, this time with Converse.

Rumors of the collaboration circulated last week, but on Wednesday GQ confirmed it in a blog post that revealed the collaboration includes a pair of high-top sneakers covered in white paint. They'll retail for $200, but whether the offering includes any other style is unknown. In fact, precious little information about the partnership has been revealed so far — including a launch date.

Converse has collaborated with a variety of fashion brands in the past and notably worked on amultiseason capsule collection with Missoni. This will be Margiela's first mass market collaboration since its much-lauded partnership with H&M in 2012.

Karl Lagerfeld photographs Kim Kardashian pregnant!

Carine Roitfeld's third issue of CR Fashion Book stars a pregnant Kim Kardashian, photographed by Karl Lagerfeld and swathed in the season's most desirable pieces from Céline, Givenchy, and Comme des Garçons. Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, who dressed Kim in that very memorable floral glove-sleeve dress for last spring's Met Gala, provided fashion direction.

Titled "Miss USA," there's a lot going on in this spread. Good news first: That bejeweled Margiela mask looks amazing, and was perfect for yesterday's "guess who will be on the cover!" teaser. Céline's cozy tie-belt dress (shown below, left) is a cute nod to Kim's belly, which is wrapped up like a woolly gift.

But the black-veil-and-Yankees-hat combination (above, right), combined with the American flag sweater, doesn't do her — or anyone — many favors. Neither does the semi-creepy jelly jar and droopy hydrangeas (top), although that could make for a fun Internet meme. And the Comme des Garçons one-piece, left open because it clearly didn't fit over Kim's tummy, just looks like a unzipped ski suit in soft focus (below). 

But perhaps what's most troubling about these photographs is Kim's apparent joylessness. At best, her facial expression is that of grave stoicism; at worst, she looks uncomfortable, even ill. (Perhaps she really was; who knows?) This intimate shoot would have been a great opportunity to explore more flattering (or at least more relaxed) maternity looks than those she wore throughout her pregnancy. Alas, that ship has sailed.
